morgaine ann de leonardis (she/they) is an irish-italian-american director, choreographer, performer, and practitioner of accessibility in the arts. morgaine’s creative work ranges from stage, site-specific, immersive, and film.
their specialties in the field are with audience interaction, narrative via environment and movement, site-specific creation, and the facilitation of safe intimacy and emotional risks in performance.
morgaine performed with Third Rail Projects in their Bessie Award Winning Immersive Show, Then She Fell as the role of Alice. She was featured in American Horror Story’s immersive NYC shop, and has performed with Kiani Del Valle (KDV Performance Group), Lucy Kerr, Gina Bashor, and The Missing Theatre. Additionally morgaine has collaborated with Turkina Faso, Bobbi Jene Smith, Or Schreiber, Derrick Belcham, Aaron Emmanuel, Regina Ippolito, Vera Romanova, and Alexandra Flemming.
morgaine also works as a co-facilitator of Kinetic Light’s LAB: a virtual and social creative space for disabled artists.
morgaine has been invited and commissioned to make site-specific works for the Buffini Chao Deck at the National Theatre, Cross Rail Place Roof Garden (festival 14), the Lobby of the Ace Hotel Manhattan, the historic loews jersey theater, and Lincoln Park for Dinner en Blanc Jersey City for an audience of 1,000.
She premiered three independent evening length works: No Place Like Home, an immersive dinner and show, let live: an intimate dance opera on life and death, and Opening Reception, a cheeky site-specific piece taking place at the opening night of a visual art exhibition.
morgaine is the recipient of multiple grants and awards including: Arts Council England’s Developing Your Creative Practice, Jersey City Arts & Culture Trust Fund, Dance/NYC Disability. Dance. Artistry Dance and Social Justice Fellowship, and New Jersey State Council of the Arts Choreographic Fellowship.
morgaine has been an artist in residence at the English National Ballet, All is Joy studios, Shawbrook Residential, Monira Foundation, GallimXCreateArt, and SMUSH Gallery.
